Awarding Ceremony
On November 6th, the 2025 China-Africa TVET Cooperation Dialogue i.e. China-Africa TVET Cooperation Federation Annual Conference was held in Jinhua, Zhejiang Province. An awarding ceremony for “China-Africa Outstanding Cooperative Projects of TVET” under the framework of Future of Africa was held at the conference. Among the 20 honored colleges and universities nationwide, Qingdao Technical College (QTC) stood as the only selected higher vocational college in Shandong Province to receive the award on stage, marking a phased achievement in the field of “Vocational Education Going Global” .
The China-Africa TVET Cooperation Program under the framework of Future of Africa is jointly initiated by the China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE) and the Association of Technical Universities and Polytechnics in Africa (ATUPA). It is a key vocational education cooperation measure to implement the spirit of the Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC). Centered on the three core goals of “talent development, standard building, and skill improvement”, the program establishes a cooperation platform for China-Africa vocational education. It aims to share China’s vocational education achievements and industry-education integration experience with African countries, jointly cultivate application-oriented technical talent serving emerging industries such as advanced manufacturing and the digital economy, and lay a solid talent foundation for building a China-Africa Community with a Shared Future. The awarding of the Outstanding Cooperative Projects is a key step to set up cooperation models and promote high-quality experience under this program, featuring fierce competition and great value.
In recent years, QTC has deepened its cooperation with African countries in vocational education and developed a distinctive cooperation system characterized by tripartite synergy between government, enterprises and the college, joint development of localized standards, and mutually sustainable empowerment. Focusing on the industrial needs and the development pain points of vocational education in African countries, QTC has successively launched key projects including vocational education teacher training in Gabon, teacher training for refrigeration and air conditioning technology in Côte d'Ivoire, and mechatronics skill enhancement training in Kenya. Up to now, QTC has provided a total of more than 5,000 person-days of local teacher training for Gabon, Côte d’Ivoire and Kenya, covering locally scarce technical fields such as refrigeration and air conditioning, and mechatronics. These achievements have been highly praised by Chinese and African partners.
Being awarded the “China-Africa Outstanding Cooperative Projects of TVET” under the framework of Future of Africa is not only an affirmation of QTC’s past achievements in China-Africa vocational education cooperation, but also an expectation for deepening future cooperation. Taking this awarding as a new starting point, QTC will further integrate itself deeply into the “Future of Africa - China-Africa TVET Cooperation Program”, continuously expand cooperation with African countries in such fields as joint teacher training, major co-construction and industry-education integration, and contribute more “Qingdao Technical College Strength” to building a China-Africa Vocational Education Community and enhancing China-Africa friendship and cooperation.”
