Waiariki library is not big, only on the third floor in N block , with not much collection of books in my opinion, nothing novel. What touched me and urged me to write down this are the staff, manager Ann Marie, and her team members: Bonnie, Mandy, Natasha, Elena and Chris
Studying in Waiariki, after the major lessons, I have more time to stay in the library, looking up and collecting related books we need. It is an order from the boss and also my own desire. I’d like to take the opportunity to take back as much valuable as possible to share with others, for the good of the college and also for the good of the staff and students, even though it takes much money and much pains.
I go to the library every day recently, enjoying their warm greetings and considerate service. I take it for granted that New Zealanders are always so humble, simple and devoted to their work. I scanned, photographed, collected all the books I am interested in so that it would be easy for me to get them in a bookshop. But in vain, I got nothing there. When I told this to Linda with great disappointment and asked her if she could show me a few other shops, she named a few ones but suggested me asking the library staff for help. I was not sure ,but I tried. That day , I went to Natasha with this request, timidly, as I have no card, no identification . Without any hesitation or delay, she went to ask her manager for permission. Ann Marie came out and made sure what I wanted . Then she arranged Bonnie specially to do me the favor. I found all the books with the help of the service computer and put them all on the table before Bonnie. She is so kind and so nice that she wrote down every book and googled on line to make sure if they were available. Then she asked me for all information which delivery might need. She did all the things very patiently and very carefully in order that they can reach me definitely. She also download a journal content for me. I could not find a satisfying way to express my gratitude except asking her to write down her and her manager’s names on my notebook, as if by doing so I could write down their kindness. Suddenly it occurred to me that there are two bookmarks in my bag on which inscribed our college’s name. I took out and gave them. They were both pleased and Bonnie teased with” We haven’t given you your book yet”“ I have got more than that” was my prompt answer.
Regarding to payment and the use of Visa card, Bonnie would find me at the corner of the library and convey what the bookseller wants . Considering what I want to share, I wanted to take a few pictures when I went to the library this morning. Elena was serving a few students, but just turned when I took the shot. She at once returned to her position and posed well for me to take another one. I didn’t notice Chris before he came to ask me if I needed drinks. I realized what he meant and took him into my camera right away.
Actually , none of them knows who I am , what I do and where I am from. But they did the best they could, and to my complete content, even without any identification, which made me proud as well as touched. All of these should not have attracted my attention. However, I cherish the sincerity, purity and simpleness, firmly believing them to be best memories in the future.
