On July 12, the opening ceremony for Qingdao IOT Applied Technology Academy was held, marking the official establishment of another municipal research institute at QTC.
The Academy, supported by government, industry and the college, was aimed to focus specially on IOT research and development, industry service and talents training etc, involving the fields of smart home appliances, transportation, logistics and even campuses.

Academician Yao Jianquan from Chinese Academy of Sciences was appointed Honorary Director of the Academy, and Qingdao Vice Mayor Mr. Niu Junxian awarded him the letter of appointment on the ceremony. Yao, in his speech, thought highly of the foundation of the academy and also called for the local government to give more support to its further development. Mr. Niu conveyed his congratulations and said the municipal academy would surely enhance the city's IOT development; he also hoped QTC grasped the historic opportunity of IOT development wave, fully implementing the college's advantages in applied technologies research to serve the industry.
