RRC President Visited QTC

Stephanie Forsyth, President and CEO of Red River College (RRC), Canada, accompanied with her associates, arrived in Qingdao and began her 3-day visit to Qingdao Technical College (QTC) on February 20th, also her first time to visit QTC since she took her new position in September, 2010.

QTC leaders Secretary Tan Sende, President Dr. Shi Zhongjian gave RRC delegation a warm welcome and discussed further with the Canadian guests the intentional cooperation in terms of joint programs, curriculum recognition, and teachers and students exchange etc.

The cooperative agreement signed by the two colleges’ presidents the day after marks the official beginning of new cooperation between the two institutions.

In order to receive his old friend from Canada, Dr. Shi asked for a special leave from the provincial NPC meeting being held in the capital city of the province, to which he has been a delegate of the session for five years.

Besides a welcoming dinner at his home, Dr. Shi also invited President Forsyth to visit the work studio of Sculptor Zhang Baitao, a QTC Professor and President of Qingdao Sculptors Association, where President Forsyth was deeply impressed on the real work and life of the Chinese artist.

Accompanied by Vice President Qin Chuan, President Forsyth paid a visit to a local kindergarten, also a QTC practical training center for its early childhood education program.

Presidnet Forsyth worked in Canadian British Columbia post-secondary education system for over 23 years, and has held various senior level administrative positions at colleges throughout BC, most recently as President for ten years of Northwest Community College in Terrace, during which her college established cooperative relationship with QTC and has conducted various joint programs including mutual visits, curriculum development, students exchange, teaching seminars and training etc with the Chinese counterpart.
