On October 20th, a German scholar couple Kuan Yu-Chien and his wife Petra Haering-Kuan came to QTC to hold an academic lecture titled The Collision and Difference between Chinese and Western Cultures. QTC leaders, teachers and students, reps from the local education authorities, and counterpart colleges attended the lecture.

In their lecture, the wife, Mrs. Petra Haering-Kuan, with vivid and interesting examples, elaborated the collision and differences between the Chinese and western cultures in terms of thinking and acting modes, attitudes to life, morality and even love. In contrast, Mr. Kuan Yu-Chien summarized the characteristics as well as the weaknesses and strengths of each own, and emphasized the significance of a solid foundation of the Chinese culture. The couple’s lecture had been greatly welcomed by its listeners, who responded with bursts of applauses. President Dr. Shi Zhongjian, at the end of the lecture, spoke highly of their speech and gave the couple his great acknowledgement.
