Wang Zizi, justly graduating from University of Texas, USA, and newly admitted by The University of Sheffield, UK as a postgraduate student, was appointed by QTC president, Prof. Dr. Shi Zhongjian, as one of his student assistants on August 27. Unlike all the other student assistants appointed since 2009, Wang was the first student who was studying in an overseas university.

The Appointing Ceremony
Beginning her overseas studying in USA since 2006, Wang Zizi was recommended to study economics in University of Texas at Austin by her Hebron High School in 2008. In addition to her excellence in study, Wang also positively participated in a great many campus and social activities. In 2008, she served as a volunteer for the Olympic sailing regatta.

Certificate Awarding
On the appointing ceremony, Wang greatly appreciated the opportunity rendered to her, and put that she surely would benefit from this new position, and endeavored to be qualified in the connection between QTC and foreign universities. Wang’s mother, Ms. Liu Weiwei, Deputy Director of Qingdao Customs, also thanked QTC for giving Wang such a platform for social practice, and also thought highly of the college’s educational concepts.
As a vice president in charge of students affairs, Qin Chuan, introduced the college’s innovative practice of student assistants to President and its achievements.

Dr. Shi Talked with His Assistants
President Dr. Shi Zhongjian, in his congratulatory talk, was grateful and moved by Wang and her mother’s love to educational, social as well as the hometown’s development. He said, the appointing ceremony itself today was of by far no significance, yet it was surely to effect great impacts on student affairs management, and hoped that the new job would enrich Wang’s study life abroad. If comparing Wang’s overseas study to a symphony, hopefully we could find the new job of assistant to QTC president would be one of its harmonious notes, he added.
Some local media, including Qingdao Daily, Qingdao Evening gave special attention to the appointing ceremony.
