On May 20th, Shandong Provincial Government officially approved Qingdao Technical College (hereby QTC) and German Fachhochschule des Mittelstands (FHM) to establish ‘Tsingde College’. This is the first applied and approved non-independent legal entity of higher vocational Sino-German cooperative institution in Shandong province. In the first stage, Tsingde College offers three majors, namely Mechatronics Technology, Electrical Automation Technology and Numerical Control Technology, which plans to enroll 240 students every year.
The establishment of Tsingde College will absorb German vocational education idea and cultivate international skilled professionals with theoretical basis, practical and innovative research skills and team spirit for “Made in China 2025” strategy. QTC will set up a cooperation model with German enterprises and facilitate students' internship, employment and vocational qualification certificates examination with the help of more than 4000 close cooperative enterprises of the German side, such as Siemens, SAP, BMW, BOSCH, DATEV, FESTTO, Teutloff, WEG Group and Ebero Group. QTC will participate in the research projects hosted by the German side on Industry 4.0, the new urban ecosystem, intelligent manufacturing, new energy, innovative school-enterprise cooperation and other aspects of scientific research project, providing a platform for students and teachers’ all-round development and providing necessary labor pool for "Made in China 2025" Strategy and the economic and industrial development of Shandong and Qingdao.
It is reported that Germany FHM was founded in 2000, which is the first North Rhine-Westphalia private higher educational institution certified by the Scientific Committee of the Federal Republic of Germany and awarded 10 years certification (the longest time). The university has 8 campuses, with more than 640 full-time and part-time lecturers (including 95 full-time professors) and more than 5,000 students. According to a recent survey by StudyCheck, Germany's largest university evaluation platform, FHM ranks second in cost performance and is awarded "Excellent Online Teaching University" and students are very satisfied with course content and lecturers and courses quality. The university has been in the forefront of German CHE University Ranking for a long time and gets full marks in the aspects of "Overall Teaching Quality", "Undergraduate Professional Practice" and "Graduation Rate".
